Dry Flocked Swab Guide
Dry flocked swabs are flocked swabs used without a transport medium: the sample is collected on a dry flocked tip and held dry until testing. This guide covers dry flocked sampling as its own topic, for buyers whose protocol specifies a dry swab rather than a swab with a transport provision.
Dry sampling as a protocol choice
Dry or with-transport is a protocol choice that changes the swab order: a dry swab has no transport provision, while a transport swab does. An enquiry should state which form the protocol expects, in general terms, together with tip material, shaft, sterile condition, packaging and quantity. This guide does not state that any dry flocked swab is validated for any test, and no such claim should be read into it.
Dry flocked and transport swabs side by side
The dry flocked guide and the sterile transport swab page are companion pages: one covers the dry form, the other the transport form. A buyer whose protocol is dry should start here; a buyer whose protocol requires transport should start there. A buyer covering both forms should list the requirement separately for each, because the swab and packaging answers may differ between them.
Enquiry points for dry flocked swabs
The enquiry points are the familiar six — tip material and form, shaft, sterile condition, packaging, quantity and destination — plus the dry form stated explicitly. Stating “dry” in the first line prevents the most common misunderstanding in flocked swab enquiries, which is a dry swab being offered where a transport provision was expected, or the reverse.
Before you enquire
Specifications, available variants, minimum order quantity and lead time are not listed on this page, because they are confirmed order by order. In your enquiry, please state the tip material and shape you need, the shaft material and length range, whether sterile or non-sterile supply is required, the packaging form you expect, the quantity you plan to order, and the destination for delivery. That information lets the supplier confirm, in writing, what can be supplied before any order is placed.
Please note: variant names on this page describe enquiry topics and search terms used by buyers. They are not a stocked catalogue, and no variant, size, material or packaging form should be read as available until it has been confirmed in your enquiry.
Supplier information, not medical advice. This site is written for business buyers of swabs and sampling consumables. Sampling procedures, test selection and result interpretation follow your laboratory or clinical protocol and the instructions of the test you use. Nothing on this page recommends a test, a diagnosis or a treatment.
